Once again, Ch21 decides to rienforce the helpful lesson: exams are not a good time to have epiphanies about the subject material.

On one hand, I understand things better afterwards. On the other hand, I really should have known better, as in, known before I opened the exam. It's just so hard to bridge the gap between knowing enough to muddle through the homework and knowing enough to tackle a midterm. I don't know if it's because I just don't have a knack for the material or because the professor's teaching style totally doesn't suit me. Mneh.

I think part of the problem is that the class isn't all that well suited for people who don't already know some spectroscopy. It's like the lectures deal with in-depth justifications of the solution process, without really explaining what the solution process is. I would always find the sets pretty hard because useful information was so hard to glean from the lectures, and I didn't have time to read the text (that is if you don't count flipping through and plugging numbers into boxed formulas).
I haven't seen the midterm, but I know how much the 'learning-experience' exam phenomenon can suck.
Best of luck to you... I know you'll do well.
