I had this conversation with my dad earlier tonight:

ME: Are you the one who added Twilight to the Netflix queue?
HIM: Yes.
ME: Um...
HIM: What? Wasn't it a pretty big hit?
ME: Yes, among teenage girls.

Poll to the audience: If he goes through with it, should I watch it, too?

I suppose I'd watch it if I didn't have to spend my money on it and didn't have better things to do (in other words: I didn't watch it yet and it's unlikely I will until it's on TV). You can still get up and leave the room if it gets too... urple ^^;;

I watched it under similar circumstances (free Friday night movies on campus) and I have to say, much scorn as I have for the books, I didn't hate it. There were some parts that were extremely stupid, and the main character has an irritating inability to not sigh after every single word she says, but besides that it was fine, nothing to go through the trouble to not-watch.

This happened to my brother, too. He'd heard it was a good series...he just didn't know it was a vampire romance.

I've gotta say that the screencap of vampire baseball made the movie seem at least slightly more intriguing. By which I mean, I bet there's (Tall pretty guy with manly scarf)X(Main vampire guy) fanfiction somewhere out there already.

Vampire baseball!

I think, based on the fact that every screenshot in that link made me want to scream because of how emo the characters looked, I probably won't watch it after all. >_>

It's not as painful as the book, I think. Just BORING and VAPID. Invite us over and we'll snark the shit out of it. :P

Did you ever read the book? Supposedly, the movie is better. But it would be pretty difficult to be WORSE.

Nope, haven't read the book either. I saw a stat in Time the other day that 1 in 6 books bought in the U.S. right now are by that author. Scary thought. I wonder if we're back to "it's a good thing, because it gets kids to read!" a la Harry Potter.

My former housemate once got Casino Royale from Netflix, thinking it'd be about Vegas. Hehe. At least she was in for a very pleasant surprise (who can object to Daniel Craig? :P).

If I had to watch Twilight, I would probably spend the whole movie feeling very sorry for Robert Pattinson. :)
