The End.

We saw Return of the King. Of course there were many things missing that I would have liked to have seen, but it was still amazing, and beautiful, and sad, just like I would wish. It's hard to believe it's over.

Just some quick comments, in random order:

I came closest to crying when Denethor was telling Faramir he should have died in Boromir's place and all. That definitely redeemed him for this movie, even if seeing him in Ithilien still grates on me.

No showdown between Gandalf and Saruman at Orthanc? After they had so many other fights? Bah!

Gandalf was very pushy. You'd think someone would do something about him beating up the Lord of Minas Tirith. And being responsible for his death.

Most of Sam and Frodo's stuff was fine this movie, as far as I can remember right now.

Where else will you find a movie where the undead armies are fighting for the good guys? But that was a bit weird. No need to introduce more kingdoms, I guess.

I cracked up the entire time Legolas was single-handedly taking out the oliphaunt. That was just too rich.

Minas Tirith was awesome. The Grey Havens were gorgeous.

Arwen being bound to the fate of the Ring . . . whaa?

Elrond visiting Aragorn. Hm, that was unexpected.

No Faramir and Eowyn at all was a bad call. We needed at least a little explanation, and more in the extended cut.

No Scouring of the Shire, of course. But I guess it could have been worse.

What happened to Bag End? Didn't Sam and Rosie start living with Frodo there?

The pacing was . . . weird. I can't say it was bad, but it was like I would get really, really into a scene, and suddenly they would cut to someone else, and I would think, "Oh yeah, they're doing stuff, too." And by the time they went back to the first thing, I would have forgotten about that as well. I guess the book is kind of that way, too.

That's all I can think of right now, I guess. Must go sleep and get rid of headache.

Yeah, I don't know why they cut out Saruman's scene (Christopher Lee and the fans were all pretty upset over that a few weeks back). But that and Houses of Healing and the Mouth of Sauron and a few other bits are all said to be slated for the extneded cut=) Yay=D

I really can't wait for the extended version. I hate to sound like a disgusting, screamy little fangirl, but I've always liked Faramir and Eowyn, and I wish it had shown them together just because my unconverted friends were remarking over how sad it was that Eowyn had a crush on Aragorn and nothing ever came of it.

Is Ghan-buri-ghan going to be in the extended edition? I thought I saw pictures of him somewhere and he was always one of my favorites so I was disappointed to not see him there.
