What's the problem with deciding to cancel Firefly? I hear it was horrendously expensive to film. However popular a series may be, if it can't keep up with costs, it has to go. Not saying I agree with the decision, but it sounds like they had good reason.
This, if true, might be more like the creation of Firefly in the first place: the pet project of someone with a lot of clout.
Part of the outcry over Firefly's cancellation was that FOX had somehow managed to under-advertise it despite the Joss Whedon connection. The least they could have done was to try to mobilize a portion of the "Buffy" fanbase.
Plus, there's that wonderful bit about FOX showing two episodes out of order early on, too...
ANN says it's false, that the rumor item isn't even in Animage as claimed. Incidentally, I wish Animage would start providing permalinks so that people could actually link to individual news items...
