CMU and concerts.
Feb. 13th, 2006 10:27 pmI just realized that Carnegie Mellon's recruiting weekend is the same week as the Glee Club concerts. The Glee Club concerts I've been in every single term since coming to Tech. And yet, CMU and Georgia Tech are really the only two grad schools I'm seriously considering at this point, and I think I really need to go in order to make an informed decision, as well as meet profs and look at labs.
I didn't think it'd be so painful to ask to be excused from the concerts. It makes sense, I suppose, when you consider that I've been putting in 3 dedicated hours of rehearsal a week all term. It's making me cry to think of all the awesome songs, and realize that I won't get to perform them. I won't get to sing "Geordie" after it's all finally fallen into place, and, oh god, "Sure On This Shining Night" is just so, so beautiful.
How can this possibly be the right decision?
ETA: I've decided not to go during the recruiting weekend after all. In large part because of Glee Club, really, but also because I realized that visiting both schools would mean I had less than 3 days to do all my finals. And since CMU is willing to fly me out anytime in March, I'll probably just try to find another time.
