Yeah, I'm still too dead to update (although I had been composing a huge entry about GRE prep in my head while unable to sleep from nervousness the night before), but you're never too dead to post a meme, right? Jacked from [livejournal.com profile] kalquessa:

Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between 50 and 75 interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over 75 interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much:

ali project: they're a Japanese music group. Half of their songs are strange and off-key-ish, and half of them are sweet and generically pretty. They did the opening for Noir (Kopperia no Hitsugi), the opening and ending for Avenger (Gesshoku Grand Guignol and Mirai no Eve, respectively), and the opening to Wish (Wish). A lot of their lyrics are very poetic, with a sort of cynicism I appreciate. My favorite song of theirs is probably Sensou to Heiwa.

clamp: the goddesses of manga, a four woman group who did X, Magic Knight Rayearth, Chobits, Angelic Layer, Card Captor Sakura, RG Veda, etc. etc. Their stories tend to be quite twisty and complex, and their art is absolutely gorgeous. I was kind of disillusioned with them for a while because X is on indefinite hiatus, but as I understand it, it's because their publisher is trying to force them to change the ending, not because, as I had suspected, they are lazy and greedy and too busy working on newer series like xxxHOLiC or Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE. (Also not too fond of their new AlTeRNaTING cApS aRE KEwL thing.) Right now, I need to finish watching Rayearth and Sakura, and probably rewatch Angelic Layer. And reread X so I can work on the tarot deck again.

fantasy: um, I like fantasy. I have for as long as I can remember. There's something about the simplicity of life without technology, the romance of magic and royalty, the epic-ness of it all, and just the escape from reality that draws me irresistibly. I read it, I dream it, I [attempt to] write it. Fantasy is probably one of the most fundamental of my interests.

kajiura yuki: another Japanese music artist. She writes lovely lyrical songs like Fiction, Cynical World, Fake Wings, and Michiyuki. She also did catchy, new age-y background music for a lot of anime series including Erementar Gerad, .hack//SIGN, and Noir. She's kind of a goddess of anime music right now, like Yoko Kanno is/was.

maria-sama ga miteru: an anime series about an all-girls Catholic school that just happens to be called Lillian Girls' School. :P (The title translates as "Mary [as in, the Virgin Mary] is Watching", referring to the statue of Mary to whom the students pray each morning as they arrive.) The students at the school take underclassmen as their "petite soeur" and become their guides and older sisters. The series is a sweet little drama about the student government, the Yamayurikai, or "Mountain Lily Council", which consists of the three Roses and their petite soeurs. The artwork is very soft, and the whole thing has an air of refinement to it. I've actually just started watching it again. I got distracted away from it a long time ago, but while I was trying to take my mind off GRE studying, it seemed to be just the genre I needed.

puns: I like words, and I like it when people are clever with them. And I do tend to enjoy almost all puns, even if I groan at them outwardly.

shinjo mayu: um, maybe I shouldn't have done this meme after all. *tries to sneak away* >_> Shinjou Mayu is a manga artist. She does shoujo smut. ^^;; Her works are one of my guilty pleasures. All of her guys are bad boys with good hearts, who tend to bully the girl protagonists, who secretly like it. After varying lengths of time and varying amounts of outrageousness (among the guys, there have been mafia bosses, school presidents, the next prime minister of Japan, and the devil himself), they usually manage to live happily ever after. Her newest series, Love Celeb - King Egoist (don't ask about the title) is a bit too smutty even for me, but I adore Akuma na Eros. In North America, she's probably best known for Sensual Phrase (Kaikan Phrase) and Despotic Lover (Haou Airen).

tortall: Tortall is the fantasyworld of Tamora Pierce's Alanna and Immortals quartets. I can't really explain why I like the series so much. It's just good fantasy, I guess. I like the characters and I like the setting and I like the plot, even though the reading level is a bit low. Oh, and she has one of my favorite characters ever, George Cooper. He's just so clever and charming and sneaky. o^_^o

xanth: Xanth is Piers Anthony's long, silly fantasy series. It's about a world in which puns are literal (see above discussion of puns) and every person has a unique magical talent, ranging from as useless as being able to create a spot on a wall to as powerful as talking to inanimate objects. The books are always lots of fun, and I love the logic puzzles contained in Magician Humphrey's challenges, of which there always tend to be a few every book or so.
