I couldn't have said it better.

Even if I go to school in SoCal, I am still Bay Area at heart.

Also, another interesting thing to look at is the map. That big strip down the coast that was strongly "no". It's something to think about.

I was inclined to follow our saying, "Vote early, vote often, vote NO" for the recall, but I suppose Schwarzenegger hasn't particularly demonstrated that he'll do a bad job. So since almost half of California has seen fit to let him run the state, I can't but give him a chance.

In the link to the excel chart thingie... any idea where the % pop voting numbers are from? Cuz if it's a % of total overall population, that's probably not quite as appropriate as % of registered voters statistic. I wonder if a total population number accounts for college kids like us, who are registered in our home counties, but currently living in another... Hrmm... I'd go look it up... but 95 awaits... =)

College kids probably don't count since our actual home addresses are still up north.

% voters explained

I tried to find the county breakdown of voters, but I didn't want to scour the web for that. Finding the total number in the state is easy enough, but by county seemed a lot harder. I found 2002 numbers for people over 18, and used that number as the "total" population" for the county. So the percentage you see is (total votes)/(total potential voters).

Not the most accurate metric; probably should have left it out.

Wow=) Well, total potential voters is a pretty good statistic to look at too, methinks=) As for how many are really registered... well, methinks all them potential unregistered voters should go register, to... but whatever... anyway... people kept saying voter turnout was high this election... it's kinda depressing to see how low of a percentage of potential voters those numbers show, however...
