c = 1.8e12 what?
Nov. 29th, 2004 01:46 amI was eavesdropping on frosh in the Coffeehouse who were talking about how in phys1 you can use whatever units you want, and people should convert everything into furlongs per fortnight. (Google will do that conversion for you, incidentally.) Another frosh responded, "I thought Btu were obscure." And I thought, "Hey... waitaminute, ChemEs use Btu!" *sigh* Is it a sign that being a ChE sucks? I mean, the front of our thermo textbook gave the ideal gas constant in something like Btu per pound-mole Rankine.
Another frosh said something about APh9 and "give your favoite color in electron-volts" which I thought was pretty cute. There should be a way to convert wavelengths into hexadecimal so I can drive my Ch21 TAs nuts, atomic units be damned.
Speaking of Ch21, though, my schedule next term is teh suck, and I won't even be taking EE51. (Though maybe I'll add it if scheduling issues make it impossible for me to take ESE175b.) It really does suck to be a ChE.
