elwenMm, time to catch up with sites I haven't visited all summer. I checked skins on Monday, but I only just remember the AMVs and the OC Remixes, so here are some of the latter: (in no particular order)
DarkeSword - Through the Dark (Chrono Trigger)
I actually had this one before I left, but I must have been zoning out or something, because I can't believe I would leave it in the sorting folder after hearing it. The mix has a bunch of different melodies, in a peaceful, new age kind of setting. And besides, it's by DarkeSword, the guy who did Ancient Hero.
Disco Dan - Triforce Majeure (Zelda 3)
It kind of drags out, but some parts are just so catchy I can't resist it. It's kind of techno with swells of dramatic orchestra, with a background beat that reminds me of Umaro's Theme from FFVI.
Sephfire - Above the Rising Falls (Kingdom Hearts)
Woo, first Kingdom Hearts OC Remix! And it just so happens to be of my favorite KH song, Hollow Bastion. Originally, the song is a tense orchestra piece, and the mix keeps that mostly the same, while weaving in some more drama and beat. Anyway, stop reading me attempt to sound knowledgeable about music, and go download it. :P
zircon - Calamitous Judgment (Chrono Trigger)
A catchy mix of The Trial. [I give up trying to describe the songs musically. Just go see the site, which says it's kind of like Triforce Majeure, but better.] I was getting kind of tired of The Trial in Concert after listening to it so much.
lightwarmth - Messenger in the Key of Black (Final Fantasy IX)
This one hits right here. *hand over heart* I was always so sad that the FFIX Piano Collections didn't include any incarnation of Kuja's Theme, and here's a lovely rendition of Dark Messenger! I would have thought that would be the hardest of the three to put to keyboard, since it's the most rock (?), but I like it. A little more subdued than the original, but with its own flair, kind of like Vamo' alla Flamenco.
Anyway, since I'm talking about OC Remix anyway, I will list a few gripes that have been eating at me.
1. Someone needs to remix Underground Sewer from Chrono Trigger. Really, this is my favorite song, in spite of the less than inspiring name, and it's a lot prettier than you might think. (It was also played in one of the forests in the game; I don't know why they named it after the sewer dungeon instead.) I mean, there are so many billion Chrono Trigger remixes, you'd think that eventually... =/
2. People need to stop remixing "You Are Not Alone" from FFIX and take a look at all of the game's other lovely, nostalgic music. Like *ahem* Forgotten Face. And why has no one touched Vamo' alla Flamenco?!
3. No one remixes Arc the Lad. ;_;
Okay, I'm just petty, I know, and I have no right to say anything given that I couldn't remix a nursery rhyme if my life depended on it. It's just good to be petulant once in a while.
