Oh the irony.
Jun. 4th, 2004 03:08 pmTwo random amusing episodes from the week:
So on Tuesday, I had lab, but I'd stayed up all night before doing the 95 set.
Lab parter: *comes in, shoulders hunched, eyes bloodshot*
Me: You look like you got as much sleep as I did.
LP: One hour?
Me: Yeah.
LP: I was going to have you pour all the DMSO, but...
Ah, the joys of chem lab.
And then Wednesday night was Chandler Dinner. There was a "surprise", which was a magic show and then some casino games. Unfortunately, I had to work on a Japanese presentation, so I stayed for most of the magic show, which was pretty cool if cheesy, and then left. So I gave the gambling tender to James to spend for me. In rapid succession, a bunch of people all thought to bet it all on black, in memory of Blacker's ill-fated plan to double our socteam budget. We were joking that the Flems should bet on red, and the Darbs on green.
In total, about 28 people pooled their money and bet it on black in one fell spin.
. . .
It came up green.
It was quite hilarious. Probably it would have been less so had it been green in Vegas instead of red 23, especially considering the trouble they took to make sure it was on a single zero wheel.
Ah well. Once again we are reminded that gambling doesn't pay. And here the guy was so reluctant to let us do it because he didn't have enough chips in case we won.
