You never know how much a carpet damps sound until they take it away.

Edit: When I open the door, it's so disorienting, because it doesn't sound like my hallway anymore. Even if there aren't any sounds, you know, I can feel any background noise just reverberating. It's very hollow. Or maybe it just makes Stephan's computer fans sound louder. :P
