Missed news.
Aug. 7th, 2010 03:37 pmSee, I was so busy while posting about how busy I was, that I forgot one of the key points: I didn't even have time to pay attention to big news items that I otherwise would have been all over.
Like, I heard on the radio in the morning about how the Prop 8 ruling was coming down that day, then completely forgot about it as I was sucked into a storm of last-minute preparations for a client presentation. I might not have found out until I happened to catch it on the radio, if one of the partners hadn't mentioned it in passing at the end of the debriefing meeting Wednesday afternoon.
And thet Elena Kagan got confirmed the next day, which I had no idea was even in the works. Not that I had really been following any of the confirmation stuff, but I think I would have at least noted when the vote was supposed to happen.
So, anything else I mised that I should know? :P
(I know the HP dude is stepping down, but none of the details.)

Date: 2010-09-06 10:57 pm (UTC)Kagan's confirmation was pretty low-key. The Obama folks did a good job of not stirring it up into a big mess, which wouldn't have helped her public image. She did such a great job of keeping herself out of scandal for so long that to create controversy at the last minute would've been a waste of all of her efforts.
Don't worry, the HP CEO's departure was as big a shock for us as it was for non-HP employees. We at Palm found out first from news websites, and only got a followup official email from HP the next day.
