Since last time, I've basically concluded that I want to keep watching all the series I flagged as interesting. I hope I have lots of time this summer. 9_9

This post is triggered by having just watched the first episode of Junjou Romantica. To which I can only say: Wow! What a way to start a series. It was funny, it was hot, it was moving. The only thing that throws me off is that the main character sounds exactly like Yuuri from Kyou Kara Maou. (I mean, I hear Sakurai Takahiro plenty, but he doesn't usually sound exactly the same.) I like Yuuri's humorous narration style, and it works well for Misaki, too, but hearing Yuuri in actual BL situations will be odd. But OMG, it was so hot. I guess I've been deprived of lighter BL lately, and now I realize how much I've missed it. I mean, consider the series I'm following: Finder, Crimson Spell, Loveless. And I watched Winter Cicada a couple weeks ago, which was really heavy (and not to my taste at all). Now I'm desperate for the next episode. Maybe I should go rewatch Princess Princess or something while waiting.

In other series news...

Tower of Druaga - Ah well, if there are only going to be 12 episodes, I might as well stick with it. The story has been moving a bit slowly, but it's kept my interest well enough so far. From what I know of the video game (which is based entirely on playing the bonus dungeon based on the game in Tales of Destiny), there wasn't much there to build a plot on, so I have to give the producers props. It's like making an animated series out of Pac-Man.

Nabari no Ou - My one-line summary: "Wow, none of the characters are as cool as they look." There's nothing captivating so far, but there's good ninja-ness, and the characters aren't annoying, so I will wait and see where it goes.

Wagaya no Oinari-sama - Apparently I like ancient canine deities who take on human form and speak in archaic Japanese. Meaning: this show is a nice replacement for Spice and Wolf. Actually, aside from the canine deity element, this show feels more like a combination of Kaze no Stigma and Rental Magica. I guess I'm just too culturally illiterate to not consider everything that deals with Omyoudou and the five elements to be exactly the same. ._.;; But in any case, Horo Kuu is cool. I think the series will be episodic for a while, so that's the most I can say.

Vampire Knight - I was lost the moment they showed Zero's inner turmoil. Having lots of other pretty boys around doesn't hurt either.

Real Drive - Hard to tell from the first episode, but seems interesting enough.

Nijuu-Mensou no Musume - Really bright, quiet little girl gets to prove herself among thieves led by a clever and apparently moral guy. Yeah, my kind of show. I like the steam punk (?) setting, too.

Toshokan Sensou - No subs yet, so the jury is still out. If it's still like this after exams next week, I'll start hunting down raws.

In older, finished series news...

Rental Magica was good. I think it was a little deeper than most harem shows, perhaps, and I liked seeing all the different kinds of magic.

Hatenkou Yuugi was good, too, and should have kept going! The ending was so good I decided to buy the manga. Rather than creating a hole in the bookshelf this time, I only got the first 2 volumes for now, but I'm pretty sure I'll be back at Kinokuniya for more soon enough.

Yaaay thank you. It WAS good. I am really curious as to how they'll do Hiroki (my favorite ^^). He looked a bit emo, although I guess he has his emo moments in the manga, too. (Ah, I wish the next one would come out already ^_^)
