The future of anime?
Apr. 5th, 2008 07:47 pmThe Tower of Druaga is now available, subtitled and streamed online from YouTube, Crunchyroll, or BOST TV -- legitimately. This is Gonzo's new experiment, to stream anime subbed starting the same day it airs in Japan. How it fares might well determine the future of the battleground between studios, distributors, fansubbers, and fans.
...but I'm too allergied and braindead to say more on the policy implications and all that.
More importantly, the first episode was awesome. It was like Mahoujin Guru Guru (i.e. mocking the fantasy quest genre) except less for kids, and like the first episode of Suzumiya Haruhi (i.e. totally random and apparently unlike the rest of the show). XD
I'm guessing, from the summary on the site, that the rest of it will be more of a straightfoward fantasy adventure type series. But I guess I'll have to wait until next week to find out.
