Apparently Funimation has licensed Kimi ga Nozomu Eien . . . under the name of Rumbling Hearts. Not only did they scrap a poetic and relevant title, they replaced it with something retarted and nonsensical. Only video games, like Kingdom Hearts and Shadow Hearts, are allowed to get away with that. And even then, rumbling? It sounds like they're hungry and going to eat you. It's not even as if the title doesn't translate. "The Eternity You Wish For" sounds fine to me.

Oh well. It's not like I care much for the show. I'm still not sure why I watched it all the way through. It was a trainwreck, and not even a good one at that. I just wanted to slap every single one of the characters. (Except maybe that guy who got screwed over by the purple-haired girl. He seemed like he actually had a chance at a non-dysfunctional future.)

The report at AoD indicates that the rename is courtesy of the Japanese rights owner. Frankly, that seems to be the way things go - the Japanese seem less in touch with what US fans want (as seen with Toei's US debut), or worse still they know but actively don't care (Tomino's refusal to allow original Gundam to be subbed, or have a Japanese language track at all).

Only slightly off topic here... I just decided to click on "Blue Hills Elementary" to see who came up. And chances are... we were probably in the same place at the same time for more than a few years. I'm curious to know who you are? Maybe it's better not to know - we could have hated each other. But you seem interesting (which is more than I could say for the people I went to school with back then...) You're added to my friends list so you can access my contact information...
