More anime.
Apr. 25th, 2005 04:51 amSorry for flooding you friends lists. I forgot about the series we're showing in anime club.
So we finished Kiddy Grade, which I really, really liked, although the middle part was really confusing. I was thinking that it's a really easy series for which to create fan characters; ES members are kind of like Sailor Senshi. I got to wondering whether all the names came in themed pairs, though. Obviously Tweedledee and Tweedledum; also Lumiere and Eclair, and Dextera and Sinistra. And as far as I can tell, Dvergr means "dwarf" and you would guess that Alv means "elf". I don't know about Un-ou and A-ou, though, nor Cesario and Viola.
I ended up missing a bunch of episodes in the middle of Witch Hunter Robin, but the ending still mostly made sense, and I wasn't interested enough to find out more. It's a good series, I guess, just too slow for me.
I finished Melody of Oblivion on my own because I really wanted to see how it would end. Nothing really happened, but I guess it's not a series from which I would have expected some huge revolution. The last few episodes were pretty bad in their H-ness, and I think the last episode de-explained some things they had told the audience but that Bocca didn't know. But all in all, I think it's an enjoyable series. A nice change of pace from what I normally watch, although that's a pretty unhelpful statement.
We're still watching Saiyuki, which completely changed after the first season. New set of villains! We'll see how that goes.
We're watching Chobits, now, which is fun. It's good for me to be getting more exposure to CLAMP series. I think I avoided them for a long time, partly because I just didn't care for any of their new stuff, and maybe because I really do resent them for not finishing X.
We're also showing Texhnolyze, which is probably going to be dropped. It's slow-moving and surreal, but unlike Melody of Oblivion it has a dark, humorless storyline and no cute character designs. Then again, since no one knows what's going on anyway, I might still watch it now and then.
I'd watched some of Tsukihime, so it'll be nice to see how it finishes. I guess I'm still not all that drawn into the story, though. I think it reminds me too much of Hitsuji no Uta.
I'd also watched about half of Sakura Taisen before losing interest. We're still going through the stuff I'd seen already. It's not a boring series or anything, but the business with the old technology just got kind of annoying. I don't really like mecha to begin with. Having to deal with them being steam-powered and all clunky is just not fun. I think the main reason I'll keep watching is that I want to know more about Iris.
Okay, that's all from me for tonight.
