Anime continuation.
Jan. 17th, 2005 04:32 pmWitch Hunter Robin got better. I suppose the whole episodic witch-of-the-day thing is kind of interesting. Still not fond of the slow moments, but hey, Noir was like that, too.
Last Exile is so not my genre. It reminds me of something else we showed before, that I ended up losing interest in, maybe Nadia -- eh, airships, submarines, what's the difference? I'll give it another week or so, since it looks like the main plot is starting up (possibly). I kind of like Claus, but that alone isn't enough.
I finished watching Phi-naru Approach, which is an awesome fluffy romanticomedy. I don't usually watch the genre, so I can't compare it to other things, but I think the randomness, like the black suits and Emiho's family, added something. I thought the SD moments tended to feel out of place, though, as much as I adore SD Shizuka. I enjoyed the ending a lot. The last few episodes were like a backwards sine wave, going down, then up, and then returning to normal. I'm glad they didn't end with 12, which was too idealistic to be in character for the series. The whole "back to normal"-ness of 13, after giving me a heart attack at the beginning, made it sweet.
I'm almost done with Melody of Oblivion. Did I say last time that it seems like it's made from an H game? I take that back. H games don't try to be subtle, whereas MoO does things that are so . . . well, erotic, except it comes out of nowhere and is so out of place that for a second you wonder if it's supposed to be perfectly innocent. I'd been giving them the benefit of the doubt for a long time, but episode 21 eliminated that. Two words: Bio Concerto. Plus Toune. I don't know whether to be glad or disappointed I probably won't be at showings when they get to that episode. I almost ignored the spanking, just because we're kind of at the climax of the story, and I want to know what happens, but then they had to have the whole, "Can you feel me? I can feel you, Toune" conversation. Aaaaargh. >_< What have I gotten the club into? And Koko has been putting moves on everyone vaguely male (meaning Sky Blue and Bocca) that she doesn't already have in her hands. What happened to the almost gradeschool-innocent romance between Sayoko and Bocca?
Ignoring that aspect, I think it's really cool when they fight in space. The way their Meros symbols make that huge projection and all. The fact that they're only fighting a few Monster Union agents and not any actual monsters kind of makes me worried that the ending won't be a real ending, though. Especially after they explained the history of the Monster King, who knows how things can possibly be resolved.
3 more episodes to go. Too bad I haven't done any work yet this long weekend and time is kind of running out.
