Question: should I be more organized about the anime entries and have headings for each series, so people can find specific titles and skip the ones they don't want to read about? Or does no one read any it at all and thus care?

Anyhow, the second episode of Shura no Toki was quite disappointing. Not happy at all with how the succession issue resolved itself, and thought it was quite a stupid move on the parts of both Kisshoumaru and Yakumo -- assuming Yakumo cared about Kisshoumaru's well-being, which apparently he didn't. And then, I find Musashi's character quite annoying. The whole "I travel the country so I can find strong people to fight." Yeah, real original, real complex. *rolls eyes* So now the series is on probation.

Continuing with the April releases in anime club, we watched Kenran Butoh Sai: The Mars Daybreak. Gram seemed like a pretty cool character, but the story completely disinterested me. I didn't even finish watching the episode.

Next was Melody of Oblivion. I admit I made a mistake passing this one over. I've read the summary at least twice, but it just didn't seem interesting. Something about humans being defeated by aliens, and a boy who becomes a Soldier of Meros, the hope of the human race. It looks reasonably good, actually, and I'll probably give it at least another episode or two. But that doesn't mean there weren't some really strange moments. Like the one that made me want to crack, "Mm, yaoi... oh wait." and the bus that sprouted horns and legs. It is by Gainax, though, so let's hope it doesn't go weird in the incomprehensible story sense.

Then we watched Monster. From the title, and maybe I've heard something of it before, I just had the impression that it was a very dark series, and probably horror. It was certainly very serious and quite depressing, but nonetheless a trainwreck. I really wanted to know where it went and how things played out, but I don't really want to watch it. It's based on a manga, and reading the anime summary has satisfied my curiosity. So much for that.

After Ragnarok, we watched Sensei no Ojikan. Given the comparisons to Azumanga Daioh, I was expecting something a bit more . . . like Azumanga Daioh, I guess. I don't know how to explain the differences in the humor. Neither are particularly intellectual, but Azumanga was just more unexpected and hilarious, somehow. With Sensei no Ojikan, no one was really laughing. So I don't know, maybe another episode, to see if it's better when it's not breathlessly trying to introduce all the dramatis personae.

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue is enjoyable as always, and hopefully will pick up PLANETES again, too... but third term is still really crazy. And I just realized tonight that being in Japan this summer will probably mean, paradoxically, that I won't be able to follow the series after term ends. I don't even know if I'll have internet access in the dorm. *eep*
