Boo for having to skip class as the only way to reasonably survive finals.

YKYATDW (You Know You're A True Dork When...)
Upon pondering your discontinuous sleep the night before, you immediately wonder if the set of discontinuities is of measure zero. So much worse than wondering about piecewise continuity.

I came to a realization about o-chem: when I don't know the answer, or kind of think I do, I manage to come up with a solution, and then convince myself that it's probably right, only to find out that it's completely wrong. Sometimes it's lack of intuition, but sometimes my reasoning seems perfectly fine, just not true in actuality. That's what science is about, I guess: coming down to two or more equally acceptable explanations and requiring further experimentation to test them. Too bad they penalize you for not being able to run reactions and spectra during a midterm.

All of my midterms so far have been much eviller than last term's. How can 95 possibly improve this trend?

[Wrote this earlier, forgot to post. I'm just in a ranty mood today, eh? Which is bad, considering I don't have the time at all to be doing so much babbling.]

Watched first episode of Maria-sama ga Miteru. Very pretty show; I like the artistry, with the colors and the shoujo sparkly shots . . . minus the sparkle and substituting ginkgo (?) leaves for sakura. I haven't been watching much serious shoujo drama lately. Hopefully I can put up with the yuri overtones -- not that there was much in the first episode -- because other than that, this show looks quite awesome. Will probably replace Twin Spica if I don't have enough time for both -- which is probably the case, given that I in fact don't have the time for either.

The episode itself was a nice introduction to the school and the situation. (Why does the name Lillian always appear in these random contexts?) However. Worst way to begin a series in media res ever. Yes, do please introduce me to all eight members of the student council all at once, who all look rather similar in shoujo fashion, and triplets of who have the same name, give or take an "en bouton" and a "petite soeur". Furthermore, have them all talk cryptically with such enlightening lines as, "At least hear what Sachiko has to say," and "Yes, I'm sure I want to do this." Halfway through the episode, when I finally figured out where that snippet fit in with the rest of the conversation, I had to go back and rewatch. As Jeff says, it does break up what probably would have been an overly long and wearisome dialogue, but I would have preferred something a bit less bewildering. I don't particularly appreciate being dumped headfirst into a series with no idea who, what, where, or when is involved.

And thus I pick up another anime series that I will quickly fall behind in and perhaps never finish, much to my dismay. I don't even know how many episodes it's going to run.
