[Apparently I really suck at subjects, and yet for some reason I don't want to not use them. Probably because when I first started journaling online, I didn't title my entries, and ended up regretting that a lot. Also, if you haven't figured it out by now, I've decided to use this LJ mostly for babbling about anime, manga, books -- if I ever have time to read -- and things like that.]

So anyhow, showings went pretty well, I'd say. There were no major nuisances, and only a brief span of technical difficulties at the beginning.

I'm still kind of ambivalent about Hunter x Hunter. It's entertaining enough, but such Foolish innocence just doesn't do it for cynical me. Of course, any successful character like that would depend on more savvy and street-smart companions, which he has. It just hasn't really caught my interest yet, I guess. I'm still giving it a chance, of course, and Sarah insists that it doesn't get good until episode six, which is next week, so we shall see.

Yami no Matsuei went fine. (I'll assume that any homophobic comments were made to be funny and annoying, and not out of true intolerance.) I think I'd forgotten how Matsushita-sensei's faces always feel vaguely wrong, like the eyes are asymmetrical and slightly crossed. Also, I think the stories are cooler in the manga, although there are certain scenes in the anime that I absolutely love, like when Tsuzuki summons Suzaku through Hisoka. And certain scenes are better in the anime, like Muraki and Tsuzuki after the poker match. I really need to finish reading the manga, though, but I left that to another term because it's just so slow without translations, but then I feel bad if I read the translations. Bah.

But yeah, the anime isn't as great as I remembered, and I think I prefer the manga even more now, and am even more indifferent to the anime. I think there are a lot more cute little jokes in the manga, too, that I like. At least they still had Watari's "show me your body!" line. But not Sargatanas' loli-con, or maybe that's not yet?

Key the Metal Idol was weird. We only saw the first episode, so I can't say much about it yet. I can say that, in general, emotionless main characters are bad. But at least some of the characters, which appeared either briefly or only in the opening, sparked my curiosity, so there's hope yet.

Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou was nothing like what I expected. It also went through the "perfect girl meets perfect guy and becomes his rival" part a lot faster than I expected from reading summaries. I actually really like it, though. I don't usually go for romance drama comedies, but somehow it seems to ring true in an oversimplified, taken-to-extremes sort of way. And of course my eyes wet at every sappy scene.

One thing though: Arima reminds me of Oujirou. Which is kind of disturbing. But I much prefer Arima. I would sense an obsession coming on -- a la feverishly collecting images, changing wallpaper, and making skins -- except I don't have the time for it. *sigh*
