Not sure about the playing dead. Definitely not an empath.

So tired right now... but TokyOPI was awesome. Totally take back the bitching earlier. (The name was written correctly at the entrance, although there were various other incorrectly written Japanese signs including "anata no okaasan wa doo desu ka" and Mister "SUPAKORU". And this thing I couldn't figure out which said "OPI ha ke tsu wo ke te".) Definitely gorgeous murals, though; I love the way the perspective of the setting continued into the paintings -- like in cartoons when the character runs smack into a mountainside that's been painted to look like the road continuing into the distance. I especially loved how they made the sidewalks look like they continued on and ran around a corner. (For those who didn't go, the dance floor was a street intersection with raised sidewalks and tall buildings all around.) Still didn't think it was quite Tokyo enough, although there were the pseudo-Japanese signs. My favorite was in the front where the pond was, that said, "oyogimasen kudasai". XP (Not sure about the first two syllables; there was a kanji there I didn't recognize.) There was a cute mural of Tokyo Tech, although I don't know if that's what it really looks like. And a nice recreation of the DoCoMo logo. But I'm still disappointed that there was no Tokyo Tower. There was a Godzilla in the tunnel-type place between the dance floor and indoors, though.

So yeah, I had fun. Haven't really been to a party -- as opposed to walking around to gawk at decorations and then leaving -- since senior prom. Still can't dance, of course, but at least I enjoy trying.

Before that, was at the PSICA choir festival. There were a lot of schools this time, so it was pretty business-like. No extended bios of the groups, and no making fun of how we only rehearse an hour a week. I think we sang pretty well -- The Waking has come a long way. I used to hate it, but it's really quite beautiful now that the notes are familiar and sung with proper dynamics. The other groups were all awesome, of course. We spent a lot of time comparing their uniforms. Purple is a good color for robes, but I guess some people aren't as used to seeing them and don't like them. My conclusion was that simple black dresses would be nice.

[Speaking of colors, yellow is a lovely color for flowers. Not daisies or roses, although it might just be that I don't really like daisies to begin with. But definitely lilies, hibiscus, and daffodils. But actually all colors of lilies are gorgeous, except maybe red, which is a bit over the top for me, especially when it's dark red. But white is very pretty, too. Definitely see why it's associated with purity.]

We sang tenth out of fourteen, but it wasn't too bad. The choir before us was really pretty, though -- though I wouldn't really say noticeably better than the rest. But they had a countertenor soloist, which got a great response and made it kind of intimidating. I'd noted from the program that they had a soloist, but I didn't realize what part he sang until he stepped up and opened his mouth, and then I glanced down and went, "Oh." It's quite the thing to make one jealous. My brain still won't quite reconcile my ears and my eyes, though, and tried to convince me he was dubbed. ^^;;

Okay, must get sleep before returning to the reality of some seven or so sets due this week, before it goes into finals.
