So much ramping up to do.
Sep. 10th, 2009 08:39 pmUghhh. I just played DDR (well, ITG) for the first time since getting back, and it was like I had no energy at all. My legs were jelly. The first jump I tried, I knew it was going to be that kind of day.
Some days, I just can't handle jumps, though I can play fine and get my heart rate up and everything doing the rest. For all its other customization awesomeness, though, ITG doesn't let you turn off jumps. Instead, I pick the songs that have fewer jumps, since it does tell you in plain terms how many jumps each song has. (None of this air/voltage/chaos crap.)
Did I get out of shape in Japan? I mean, we were walking around all the time, and my feet were constantly sore, but that's different from the concentrated aerobics of DDR.
Did I just deteriorate since getting back? Despite meaning to exercise more, I haven't managed until today. [I did get some decent shopping in yesterday, though.]
Am I just being worn down by work? Usually I can separate mental exhaustion from physical exhaustion, and externing is hardly physically demanding, but I also haven't been sleeping that well lately. I don't know if it's jet lag, or being used to AC'ed hotel rooms, or what, but I tend to wake up between each sleep cycle, often because it's just slightly too hot to sleep comfortably. I don't feel groggy when I get out of bed, but by the end of the day, I'm usually pretty sleepy. [Having to work on a boring securities case doesn't help.]
Ironically, I think the bad sleep is partly caused by lack of exercise. Despite how I feel, I think my body isn't really tired enough when I go to bed. Hopefully today is the first step in fixing things.
