New season! I've been kind of slow to sample stuff, mostly because I've been too busy to watch much anime lately, and partly because when I do watch stuff, I've been addicted to PoT. Mmm, PoT. I've only got, what, 163 episodes to go? (Not counting the National Tournament Finals OVA.)

Anyways, I finally managed to finish sampling the new stuff.

Tytania - Woo, they are not kidding when they describe this as a space opera. It might become too complicated and start giving me a headache, but I kind of liked the world and politics they set up in episode 1, so I will give it some time. Not quite happy with the amount of time spent on the space battle, but there was enough strategery intermixed with the lasers and explosions to keep me awake. Plus, both Jouslain and Idris have bishie potential. :3 (Though Idris needs to fix his arrogant, nasal voice. Ugh.)

Hakushaku to Yousei (Earl and Fairy) - For some reason I thought this would be more of a serious, straight-up fantasy series. Not shoujo in a fantasy setting. OMG, the bishie sparkles. It's been a while since I've seen Midorikawa in a lady-killer role, but really, the sparkles in episode 1 were a little much for me. I'm curious about how much plot they will be, as compared to the amount of Edgar flashing smiles and seducing Lydia. If there is enough plot, I will stick with it. Otherwise, I'll just go finish watching Angelique -- the flustered, wide-eyed protagonists are basically the same. I usually prefer my bishies with a dash of evil, but Edgar just feels like a caricature. Then again, it seems like a very good show for giggling over -- kind of like Nishi no Yoki Majo.

Kuroshitsuji - I am confused by the mix of dark and humor in this show. Ever since I saw the character designs, it has made me think of Matantei Loki, because the kid looks like Loki and he has a tall dark butler. But I didn't actually expect the show itself to remind me of Matantei Loki. It started with the same creepiness, and the whole pre-OP deal with the devil was a lot like Loki's banishment. Ultimately, there are lots of differences, since Ciel and Sebastian seem to be at odds with one another. Other than that, very little was explained in episode 1, so I shall have to wait and see. But I question how coherent a show this will be, with the combination of the beautiful goth setting, and Ciel and Sebastian's dark mischief (very xxxHOLiC like, in a way), with the three bumbling underlings. Then again, if xxxHOLiC can do it, I guess Kuroshitsuji might manage, too.

Vampire Knight Guilty - Eh, more of the same. I'm really hating Kaname after episode 1. I can't stand his arrogance, especially in telling Zero, "I'm the one actually protecting Yuuki." WTF you cryptic bastard who can't do anything but run around with your posse and throw your pure-blood powers around. Things are feeling really disjointed, which I'm guessing is because they are super-compressing the manga plotline? I mean, I'll go with it because I want to see Zero receive better, and Yuuki too, and Kaname get his just deserts, though how many of those I'll actually get is an open question.

Clannad After Story - I know I was considering refusing to watch, but I had to see. And it was like more of the first season, and so awesome. Now I'll be even sadder when what I know is coming comes. :( But oh, so much Akio in the first episode (and Yuusuke!), and it looks like episode 2 will be about Sunohara... I can't resist. I know they're not going to change the ending, but maybe they'll make it more palatable than in the movie. The way the new Kanon made its ending make more sense.

Stitch! - Okay, so I should have known better. Watching Japanese-dubbed Disney stuff -- even though the voice acting is superb -- just messes with my brain in strange ways. But I just liked Lilo & Stitch so much, I had to give it a try. I gave up several minutes into the episode. I mean, the characters sound just like you would expect them to, except in Japanese, but it's just weird. Also, Stitch was talking too much. Ah well. Not like I needed more shows to watch. In case you're wondering, it looked like an AU where Stitch ends up in Okinawa with a different little girl, with pretty much all of the original alien cast involved. (Not sure about the AU part, but the rest should be right. It's funny because it lets them keep the setting as close to the original Hawaii as possible, but still Japanese.)

Let's see if I can limit the number of new shows I add to my plate this season, given that I'm only watch two or three episodes of anime a week right now. My harddrives are running out of space! 9_9

Along the same lines, the only things I've finished recently are Code Geass R2 and Toshokan Sensou. The latter ended in a happy place, though the last arc was kind of ridiculous. There were enough hints of Tezuka/Shibasaki to keep me satisfied, and while there was a lot of heavy Doujou/Kasahara, of which I approve, it didn't change their relationship significantly, which is also good. So yay, warm fuzzies all around. Overall, it was a great character-driven comedy/action series, and it managed to make me LOL several times. Don't watch it for the whole "librarians with guns" thing, though.
