Random linkage.

I have almost defeated the plague! Or at least enough to go back to work tomorrow. Kinda sucks to have three work days down the drain like that, but given the number of other people I've seen who are sick, I think I did good in staying home and not exposing my co-workers. I needed to work harder next month anyway -- now I just need to work extra, extra hard.

Anyway, some linkage:

Dangerous Wands - Harry Potter and Dangerous Minds. Who would think? It's pretty awesome.

They're going to promote Vampire Knight "at select Twilight conventions nationwide." - LOLZ. It's probably an insult to Vampire Knight, but I kind of got annoyed by its crazy, angsty plot, so I don't think their levels are that different. I think the Edward fangirls might like Kaname, even though personally I hate Kaname but think Edward is okay. Never got far enough to know what Jacob is like, so I can't compare him to Zero. Do non-anime fangirls like the same kind of tormented prettyboys? Oh, I guess I'm forgetting the whole cast of Night Class prettyboys. Maybe they are on to something with this marketing strategy after all.

Yay! You're better! :)

Marketing VK to Twilight fans is not probably an insult to VK, it IS. At least that series requires a bit of talent to draw and plot. I read one page of Twilight's writing and wanted to gag.

Kaname got more tolerable for me in the second half of the series. And all I know about Jacob is that some person at Burger King thought nothing of hilariously slicing a window cling of him in half and displaying the two halves above and below this foot-wide swatch in the front entry door... XD

My supervisor from the DA's office is Team Jacob, which I find kind of disturbing. Then again, my co-workers would be equally weirded out if they knew I cosplayed Xellos, so I guess to each their own.

I guess VK did take talent to draw, at least. Not sure the plot is much better than Twilight. Just different. It's got all the marks of the Japanese penchant for dark and twisty. (Zero's brother, WTF.)

Well, the VK plot is pretty standard "two guys, conflicted girl" shoujo fare, with the dark angsty twist too. But I meant more like plot detail - every month when the new chapter comes out, I have to read all the liner notes because Hino-sensei refers so much to details from previous chapters that turn out to be important later.

She's got it all plotted out to the end with an equal number of chapters to each half of the story, too, so props to her for the serious planning there. Even if the story itself isn't very original, at least she put work into making it internally consistent and well paced.
