From [livejournal.com profile] solidark:
• Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper on their LiveJournal.
• Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper!
• Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on!

1. Hei is hot.
2. Now that I am watching the new Darker than Black, the wallpaper reminds me of how hot Hei used to be, when he wasn't all scruffy and alcoholic.
3. I've been too lazy to change wallpaper (which generally entails redoing my entire color scheme in a palette selected from said wallpaper), so yes, this dates back to the first season of Darker than Black.
4. I like the combination of warm and dark colors.
5. I need wallpapers that have neutral space in the upper left (for Winamp) and lower left (for my weather widget). [The Winamp space can be in the upper right, too, but I'm disoriented for a while every time I switch.]

So at Fanime, there was this skit called Meme Flu. And one of the memes it mentioned, that I didn't recognize, was "danjo danjo". So I decided today to look it up.

Like "Dragostea din tei" and "Caramelldansen", it's based on a song. Like "Caramelldansen", there's the signature dance, to which people started putting characters from all sorts of series. Danjo has a bit more of a story than Caramelldansen. If you can call it a story.

There's a subtitled version of the original video here (suprisingly, the song is actually in Japanese this time). The "story" is pretty stupid and the song gets annoying after a while, but the parodies are really, really good.

[If you don't want to watch the subtitles, the story goes something like this: One person is talking to the teacher and the teacher wants people to sit alternating male and female (男子 and 女子) as per regulations, but there are too many guys. So the teacher says, "Ok, do male female male male female male female," and the guy responds, "male female male female male male female?" And the teacher says, "No! It goes like this: dan-jo-dan-dan-jo-dan-jo (男女男男女男女)" while the two of them do the dance. I told you it was stupid.]

The Bleach one is really good all around.

The Reborn one is decent, and gets mention for the illustration of "sensei! all the girls went shopping and won't come back".

The Sailor Moon one was hilarious, mainly for stabs at gender-ambiguous characters, and also for incorporating sound clips from the series.

And I meant to link to the Code Geass one, but I forgot what made it good.

And, for Moyashimon, instead of "Danjo" we have "Kinkin" (菌菌), with completely voiced-over and rewritten lyrics.

If you want more, look on YouTube under 男女. (Even better, you could go on NicoVideo, but I haven't gotten around to figuring that site out yet.) A couple I glanced at but didn't think worth individually recommending were Mariokart, Gyakuten Saiban, and Fullmetal Alchemist. And there are tons of Haruhi ones; I've just never watched the series.

Now I'm going to have the "dan-jo-dan-dan-jo-dan-jo" stuck in my head. I will have to listen to Caramelldansen a few times to get it out. :]

ETA: The Smash Brothers one has some cute pictures. Like Peach stealing Wario's bike, haha.

Books meme!

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] thierrys:
1. Take five (random!) books off your bookshelf.
2. Book #1 -- first sentence
3. Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
4. Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
5. Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
6. Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph:

A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct. To add to their indignity, the enchantment also caused them to compulsively finger their bottom lips. I had taken three steps on the dusty lane when the pain struck. So I asked my grandfather this question: "Grandfather, why do they say, 'The big talkers are coming little by little and step by step,' and what do they say when they talk?" The eyes and the faces all turned themselves toward me, and guiding myself by them, as by a magical thread, I stepped into the room.

Book 1: Dune, by Frank Herbert
Book 2: A Keeper of Words, by Anna-Marie Ferguson
Book 3: The Rise of Endymion, by Dan Simmons
Book 4: The Sixth Grandfather, by John G. Neihardt
Book 5: The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath

To Do This

1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

Makes me think of Hamasaki Ayumi. )

It's like Myers-Briggs but based on how your perceive images. Very neat and pretty accurate, I think. Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] cherry_chiicake:

Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test...

NBDS - The Trailblazer

Nature, Background, Detail, and Shape

You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on the hidden treasures of life (the background) and how that is affected by the details of life. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to ponder ideas and imagine the many possibilities of your life without worrying about the details or specifics. You are highly focused on specific goals or tasks and find meaning in life by pursuing those goals. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable.

The Perception Personality Types:

Take The Perception Personality Image Test at HelloQuizzy

I can see the I, N, J in the result, and obviously Nature/Humanity = I/E, but I think the quiz focuses less on T/F.

Your home is a

Wizard's Hideout

Your kitchen is manned by a team of Keebler Drow Elves. Your master bedroom is decorated to look like the treetop village of the Galadhrim. Your study has every fantasy novel ever written, including multiple editions of the Silmarillion and advance copies of Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition.

Your home also includes a roost for griffons. You've never actually seen a griffon, but you keep the roost ready anyway. Your guests enjoy your home theater with hi-def plasma screen TV, and the thrones you watch it from. Outside is the moat that protects your home from goblin invaders and extended family.

And, you have a pet -- a unicorn named "Shadowhooves".

Below is a snippet of the blueprints:

Build YOUR Dream Home!

I am almost as amused by the fact that a site that helps you find [real] homes would have something like this as I am with the result. XD But I wish I had a wizard's tower...

ETA: Okay, I admit I changed my result. Because there is no justice in the world if I can't have multiple copies of the Silmarillion and a master bedroom that looks like Caras Galadon. Plus, I think the only thing I had to change was saying I'd rather go to Disneyworld than eat. o_O;;

Also, in the process of rigging my results, I discovered that there are hilarious snarky comments that appear if you select certain options. Like Disneyworld pops up "Because waiting in lines is FUN." and exercise gets you "Weirdo." Broadway plays gets you "Your gender has been set to FEMALE." This is truly the most awesome quiz evar. XD

I've been meaning to do this meme, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] kalquessa, for more than two weeks now, but I just kept being busy. (Not that I'm no longer busy, but I can only do law non-stop for so long, especially when I have a cold that inhibits brain activity.)

So here are my fandom loves. Like [livejournal.com profile] kalquessa, these refer more to the series themselves than the fandom, because I tend not to be involved in many fandoms.

The one who seduced you, screwed you over, broke your heart in a million pieces, and then laughed about it.

Code Geass. I used to be excited about original series that were not based on novels or manga. [I'm not exactly sure why. Perhaps because then there wasn't the chance that the source was unfinished and the anime would have an inconclusive ending. Or maybe out of a sense of self-preservation, because I always end up wanting to go back and read the original. Or maybe I just wanted to know that I was watching something original and that an anime could be good by itself without having drawn on something else.] Code Geass taught me that not having even a supposed template to work off of can be just as bad as an unfinished template. Because it lets producers decide, "Hey, this is popular and making money. Let's drag it out." I was absolutely in love with Code Geass until around episode 20. Then I started getting more and more suspicious that it was not going anywhere I liked. By the time the postponed episodes aired, I practically hated it. And yet, there's no way I'm not going to watch the sequel. D:

Which Federal Rule of Civil Procedure Are You?
YOU ARE RULE 11! You were designed to make sure that attorneys in federal cases make reasonable inquiries into fact and law before submitting pleadings, motions, or other papers. You were a real hardass in 1983, when you snuffed out all legal creativity from federal proceedings and embarassed well-meaning but overzealous attorneys. You loosened up a bit in 1993, when you began allowing plaintiffs to make allegations in their complaints that are likely to have evidenciary support after discovery, and when you allowed a 21 day period for the erring attorney to withdraw the errant motion. Sure, you certainly won't get any brownie points for being outgoing, but you keep things on the up and up. It's pretty clear that the whole operation would fall apart without you around.
Take this quiz!

OMG, if there was ever a quiz where I need to see all the possible results, this is it. I've only seen Rules 8(a), 12(b), and 20(a) so far. :( I wanna know what Rule 56 says.

...but I should probably go to bed so I'm not dead at my callback tomorrow. >_>;;

I'm thinking I'll post the results as replies to the respective comments, unless anyone has a better idea. (I could just keep appending them to the entry, for example.)

I reserve the right to reject any requests I find to be inappropriate for whatever reason. But I trust you guys to be reasonable.

C'mon, my camera needs more love. The only action it's gotten lately is my sister's graduation events and my being too lazy to scan manga. ^^;;

[ETA: My daemon has now achieved its final form, as . . . exactly what it started out as. ^^;; It actually went through at least 12 changes, and quite far-ranging ones at that, but somehow it ultimately went back to being an ocelot after all.]

I confess, I've never read any of His Dark Materials, but this thing looks cool, so I stole it from [livejournal.com profile] eaudrey after [livejournal.com profile] mergle recommended it. The basic idea is that by entering your assessment of my personality, you can affect the form of my daemon, until it's fixed in 12 days. The whole thing is really Flash intensive, just so you know.

[A direct link is forthcoming, although the website itself is still all Flash, so you can't get around that aspect.] They never sent me an email, so I'm just making up the link here: http://www.goldencompassmovie.com/?42742. If it doesn't work, go under the cut.

The ballad, I; I shun the world,
   Its bustle and its noise,
Its busy hasty rushing crowds
   And bright consumer toys.

Indeed, I sometimes like the old
   Because it's not the new;
And if you think that's strange or wrong,
   I might not much like you.
What Poetry Form Are You?

I think I'm too amused by all of the poems to really say whether any are accurate or not. (Well, I'm definitely not a haiku, at least.) Here's the alternative I got:

I am, of course, none other than blank verse.
I don't know where I'm going, yes, quite right;
And when I get there (if I ever do)
I might not recognise it. So? Your point?
Why should I have a destination set?
I'm relatively happy as I am,
And wouldn't want to be forever aimed
Towards some future path or special goal.
It's not to do with laziness, as such.
It's just that one the whole I'd rather not
Be bothered - so I drift contentedly;
An underrated way of life, I find.
What Poetry Form Are You?

I think any of the structured ones sound more or less on point. Heroic Couplets and Sonnet in particular. :]
